John's Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 AM on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 2400 West Ridge Rd. Interment with military honors will follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Additional Information Dr. Surash was part of this country's greatest generation--a World War II combat wounded veteran who served in the U.S. Army Charlie Company, 272 Infantry Battalion, 69th Division. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Wilkes College and his Master's and Doctorate in Chemistry from Lehigh University. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company; he was a long-time member of the American Chemical Society. He was a dedicated member for 55 years of the Knights of Columbus, serving in many positions including Master of the 5th District of New York. John was a man who loved God, his family and his country. He will be missed by many.
