Kasey T. Fouquet

Resided in: Henderson, NY

Kasey Thomas Fouquet came screaming into the world on August 15th, 1981 and we think it’s safe to say the world was never the same from that moment. He was the youngest child of Kathleen and Richard Fouquet, and completed their family with love, joy, and his own special brand of chaos.

He grew up in West Irondequoit, NY. Throughout his youth he played every sport he could fit into his schedule. He prided himself on being friends with everyone in school, no matter their background or interests. This was a trait he carried throughout his life.

He went on to attend college at SUNY Oswego where he majored in rugby and partying. When he wasn’t in class, he was reportedly engaged in extracurricular activities, including ‘borrowing’ someone’s horse to go joy riding through town and talking back to local law enforcement just enough to give his parents grief.

He buckled down for round 2 of college, and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration from SUNY Brockport. He spent his career working in IT for non-profit healthcare entities. When offered an opportunity to enter this field, but lacking the experience, he simply got himself a tutor and figured it out! He had a knack for doing anything he set his mind to.
In 2008, Kasey met Errin (Doyle) Fouquet. Together they built a vibrant chapter of life filled with advocacy work, sports leagues, travel, and a home that welcomed many. They married in 2012 and marked the occasion with a trip to Europe, where Kasey enthusiastically put his Italian to use. They shared a love of live music, camping, and bringing people together. Over time their marriage evolved, but they remained supportive friends.

Life was not always kind to Kasey, and so he made it a point to be kind in abundance. He would show up for friends any time, day or night. He’d give anything he had to someone in need, and he looked for the best in everyone. He took in a menagerie of often misfit pets and showed them love. And he never, ever killed bugs.

He thrived in the challenge of being an entrepreneur, and tapped into his love of fashion and art to create Fouq_et Apparel. He used this platform to unabashedly fight for equality. He volunteered his time to many charities including the Human Rights Campaign, which found him in Washington DC handing out buttons at a high profile donor gala where he accidentally stabbed Russell Simmons with the pin.

Kasey loved the river, and cherished time he spent at the St. Lawrence with his family over many summers. He cultivated a group of friends he called his ‘River Fam’, and loved watching ships. He’d cut off any conversation to shout “SHIP!” to make sure no one missed it.

He equally loved his hometown of Rochester, and sported 585 pridewear often. He was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, and enjoyed the time he spent living in Buffalo. He was mortified to no end to suddenly find himself in a tiny town in Upstate NY rather far from these places, but sometimes we can’t explain the things we do for love.

In 2023, Kasey met Amanda and her twin boys, and he fell in love. Suddenly, Saturdays were not spent wild and carefree at the river, but instead coaching Little League baseball and checking out vintage video game exhibits at the Strong Museum of Play. Together they travelled, went camping, and planned adventures big and small. He asked Amanda to marry him and make their family official, and they were engaged at the time of his passing. They recently bought a home together and began planning their little homestead in Henderson, NY. He lived for his role as partner, provider and dad and poured himself into it.

Kasey was predeceased by his father, Richard Fouquet. He is survived by his fiancée, Amanda Bellnier and children Jackson and Oliver Bellnier, his mother Kathleen Fouquet, sister Aimee (John) Fouquet, brother JD (Toni) Fouquet and nieces and nephew Chelsea, Lucian and Zoe, his aunts, uncle, cousins and the many friends he valued as family.

Kasey packed more life into 44 years than most of us will in twice that. And he has left a hole in the hearts of all those who loved him that may never quite be filled. We ask that in his honor, you add light and kindness to the world as he did.

A celebration of life will be held at the Perkins Mansion, 494 East Avenue, Rochester NY on Sunday March 1st at noon.
