Kevin was born on February 18, 1951 in Rochester, NY and grew up in Greece with his 4 siblings. As a youth, Kevin liked soapbox derby, was a boy scout (he almost made Eagle scout), played baseball, and liked to ride his bike around the neighborhood. He attended Greece Arcadia High School and began working after school hours at the age of 16 with his Uncle Rick. As a teen, he belonged to a car club, liked fixing cars, owned a Mustang and enjoyed camping.
After graduation, Kevin worked at Kodak as a wood fabricator in Building 605 for 27 years. He was also a carpenter/cabinet maker and owned his own business, Scanlan Remodeling, while working at Kodak.
A family friend introduced him to Mary whom he married, and together they raised 2 children and enjoyed 2 grandchildren and a large extended family over their 42 years of marriage.
Kevin loved to travel and visited places like Disney, Las Vegas, Alaska, Niagara Falls, Toronto, and the Caribbian/Panama Canal. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf and he was a member at Sabal Trace Golf Country Club and was on many leagues for 12 years. Kevin also liked wood working, going to Amerks games, watching hockey and golf. He was an Amerks season ticket holder, a Buffalo Sabres fan and enjoyed Tampa Bay whenever he was in Florida.
Family and friends would best describe Kevin as someone who was always willing to help others, a great teacher, generous, dependable, a mentor, and someone who was well-loved. Kevin will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he has touched.
