Laurie was born on July 29, 1962 - daughter to Marcus and Joyce Miller. During her childhood she enjoyed horseback riding, reading, cheerleading playing soccer. Laurie was the oldest sibling and liked to take charge. Many of the neighborhood kids used to gather at Olympic Park. They'd go to Kodak Park and get soda out the pop machine in the old glass bottles. She loved her cat Marshmallow and Fluffy the rabbit. They bowled; they went to Darien Lake when all they had was an arcade and a petting zoo. Laurie and family went on numerous family vacations - Wildwood NJ, Disney to name a few. Lots of pool parties at the Miller house. Many close friendships.
During her high school years, she always tried and sometimes made the cheerleading team!.Laurie worked at , Friendly's, McCurdy's, and Kodak. She met her high school friends - Cheryl, Laurie, Jeanine, Mary, Lil, Robin, Bonnie, Sue, Marybeth to name a few. These became lifelong friends.
Laura started teaching in Lyons, NY, before moving back to Rochester and working at Greece Central for over twenty years. She also spent time in the Spencerport School System. Laurie was a Reading specialist and loved working with children who needed extra attention. Laurie also loved her teaching colleagues and would often spend time with them.
David Laurie met at a hair salon in 1988, he walked into the salon and saw the most beautiful girl in the world. Thank God she accepted his date invitation. They have four children, David, Tyler, Jason, Kelly. Laurie was the best mother and wife a family could ever have. She was a selfless, tireless dedicated person. Laurie was a person who always, and without exception, put other people's needs above her own. Countless hours were spent together with her family; mother, father, brother, sister, nephews, nieces. Numerous trips from cruises to camping were taken and Laurie enjoyed these times above all others. Laurie's extended family consisted of the wonderful soccer families met through the years. So much beautiful time spent with these families at games, out of town tourneys, parties, and family gatherings.
Holidays and vacationing was very important to Laurie. Many wonderful vacations with the Millers including Cruises, Vacations homes, and camping. Greatest days too numerous - Holiday gatherings on both sides of the family always a favorite. Also many trips with her close friends - also called the Rose gang, Cherly, Lil, Jeanine, Laurie, Robin
Laurie loved home projects and kept Dave busy with these jobs. She loved going on walks in the park and around the neighborhoods. Laurie loved working out and going to the beach. Laurie loved the water whether it was the pool, Canandaigua, or the Ocean.
Laurie was a lifelong General Hospital watcher. Even though she witnessed these repeating themes thousands of times, she would never miss an episode. Typically selfless, Laurie always wanted the kind gifts she was receiving to be given to others needier than her. But she was continually amazed at the kindness and generosity surrounding her.Laurie was a stellar driver. Not! But she did always obey all road rules.
Laurie was compassionate, focused, always thinking of others, supportive, and a courageous fighter. Laurie was a perfectionist and always needed just a bit of time for new things to become acceptable. But once they were accepted those items or people became part of the fabric of her life forever.
Laurie was detail oriented and took her time to formulate opinions. You were always sure that once decided, it was set in stone!
