L. Ruth Hudson Ruth McKee Hudson passed away December 31, 2013 in Rochester, NY. Ruth was born July 13, 1917 in Burlington, WA to Merton Leah Dennis McKee. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1935 and married Dave Hudson December 19, 1936 in Mount Veron, WA.Ruth and Dave owned a grocery store in Edison, WA for many years. In 1969 they sold everything and moved to Thailand where Dave worked for the US Government. In 1974 they moved to Hawaii and from there to Fairfax, VA. After Dave passed away, Ruth moved to Rochester, NY to be near her daughter. She is survived by her two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Van Youngquist of Longview, WA; Mary Jean and Don Light of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Jill Youngquist Faunce, Julie Youngquist McCann, Jennifer Youngquist, Keith Miller and Diana Miller Davidson, also 6 great- grandchildren, a niece and nephews . She was preceded in death by her husband Dave, her parents and brother, Merton McKee Jr. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620 or the American Diabetes Association, Attn: Memorial Donations, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 in Ruth's memory. Ruth grew up in Burlington, WA . During her childhood Ruth enjoyed rollerskating back and forth to school. She also lived in Thailand, Hawaii, Fairfax, VA and Rochester, NY. In her young adult years she kept a diary. She was very active and played the piano. She enjoyed baking. Ruth met her husband, Dave at a Sunday School nursery were Francis and Ruth were dear friends. Ruth and Dave were longtime friends, started dating after High school. Ruth owned and operated Hudsons Grocery Store for 20 years in Edison, WA. Ruth enjoyed the Mckee Family picnics. Some of her favorite activities were riding an elephant in Thailand, traveling all over Asia, India. She enjoyed bowling, golf, snow skiing, tennis. She was an Altrusa member, Rebekah Eastern Star member. Ruth liked roasting hot dogs and marshmallows by the campfire. She really enjoyed attending her grandkids functions. Ruth loved music and enjoyed "Razz-A-Ma-Tazz" dancing, NY Mets fan and Washington Redskins fan. Friends and family would best describe Ruth as outgoing, social, loved to laugh, well liked, adventurous, fun loving, feisty, animated, never complained, resilient. Ruth will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her
