Greece: March 31, 2016, at the age of 91. Predeceased by his son daughter, Charles Henrietta Leach. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Leach; son, Len (Cindy Root) Leach; grandchildren, Rachel, Leonard C. Chelsea Root. Leonard graduated from John Marshall High School, RIT Brigham Young University. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and volunteered to join the 10th Mountain Infantry Division where he trained in the USA for approximately two years, after which he was sent to Italy for a period of one year. During this time the Division saw action from Naples to Lake Como. At the end of the war, Leonard was returned home and separated from the Army with an honorable discharge at the rank of Platoon Sergeant. His favorite awards were the Expert and Combat Infantry man's Badges. Mr. Leach worked at the University of Rochester Medical Center for 42 years and retired at a grade of Assistant Professor of Toxicology. Leonard enjoyed spending the holidays with his family and dining out with his family. Some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing and target shooting. His love of shooting was revealed with his membership in the Rochester Rifle Club. Annual family vacations in the Thousand Islands created many fond memories for his family and friends. Leonard will be remembered for his quiet nature and love of his grandchildren. At Leonard's request, there will be no showing or visitation, please join his family for his funeral service, 11:00 am on Monday at Bartolomeo Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 Long Pond Rd). Military honors Interment in Falls Cemetery to follow the service. Donations may be sent to the Hildebrandt Hospice, 3111 South Winton Rd, Rochester NY 14623 in Leonard's memory.
