Died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, September 17,2014. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas and her younger sister Betty Pero. She is survived by her two sons, Nicholas Castronova (Barbara Solomon) Phillip Castronova, (Lois); grandson Nicky Castronova, (Lisa); great grand daughters Tori, Chloe and Marlee; her brother Angelo "Chick" Castronova as well as many nieces, nephews and close personal friends. Lucille's visitation will be Sunday, September 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Bartolomeo Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd.) Her mass will be celebrated Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, NY 14615 at 10:30 A.M., and laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Lucille and in honor of Jake Solomon. Lucille was born on November 17, 1915 in Rochester, NY. As a child she was always singing and dancing for anyone that would come to visit at her home. She was the oldest of three children and when her mother took ill, Lucille was asked to leave school and be her care giver. She attended East High School. Lucille met her husband at his father's funeral and was married two years later. She was married for 52 years until his death in 1991. Lucille spent her life in retail sales, winning many awards during her 35 years at B Forman's. Lucille enjoyed writing poetry and some of her work was even published. She also loved to travel and visited many countries with her husband Nick. She was most proud of her sons, Nicholas and Phillip and very family oriented. Family and friends would describe Lucille as strong willed, outgoing, someone who loved people, parties, traveling, dancing, singing and writing. She was a woman ahead of her time. Lucille would say "I did it my way."
