Maria Giuseppa (Josephine) Cirocco (Fragnito), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 at the age of 94. Maria was predeceased by her parents, Domenico & Maria V. Fragnito; beloved son, Nicholas; husband, Rocco Cirocco.
Maria is survived by her children, Cosmo (Susan) Cirocco, Linda (Tom Mooney) Dupra; grandchildren, Christopher Cirocco, Nicole (Jesse) Newman, Samuel (Shannon) Dupra, Joseph Dupra; great-grandchildren, Jack and Wells; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Maria was born in Molinara, Italy, on October 26, 1928. She immigrated to the United States on July 8. 1954 to join her father and sister in Rochester, New York. A year later, her husband, two sons, and brother followed. Her mother reunited with the family the following year. Maria worked for over 30 years in Rochester's clothing factories, where she specialized in hand-sewing lapels for men's suits. She was paid by piecework and was known for her meticulous attention to detail. Maria's work ethic was legendary, and her commitment to her job was an inspiration to all who knew her. Outside of work, Maria was an exceptional cook and baker. She took great pride in her spotless home and was always willing to lend a hand to her family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved beyond anything in the world. She was known as "Pepe" to them and will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion.
Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Pepe, we love you always.
No prior visitation. Maria's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 14th at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church,3003 Dewey Avenue, 14616, with entombment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
