Remembering Marilyn
They resided with the in-laws even after the birth of their daughters to save up to build their own home. In the late 50’s they moved into their own home in Greece, New York, where her granddaughter Carrie and her family reside today.
Marilyn was a stay-at-home mom and had many hobbies when she was not busy with the girls and their school activities, dance lessons, piano lessons, girl scouts, chorus, bowling, basketball and sewing dance costumes…just to name a few!
In her free time, she enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters and their dolls. Making copper enamel jewelry, ceramics (she had her own kiln), knitting, China painting, egg decorating, playing bridge and golf, bowling and her most treasured was making porcelain dolls, many of which won awards. She also sewed doll clothes and accessories for the Margret Woodbury Strong Museum. She also tried piano lessons, and she and Nate took ballroom dance lessons. She was also an avid reader. Oh, then there was BINGO, she played as often as possible even up to her last few weeks. For the last ten years she enjoyed doing puzzles, coloring and Bingo.
After the girls were married the grandchildren filled her life with their growing up and activities. She was very lucky to have been able to attend all the grandchildren’s weddings and to see so many of her great grandchildren grow up.
Marilyn and her husband traveled extensively in the US and Europe and Central and South America and the Caribbean. They traveled several times to Italy connecting with Nate’s family there. Marilyn had a very full life…. a long marriage, family, friends, hobbies and travel; unfortunately, Alzheimer’s Disease took that all away from her. We carry the memories now.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
