Mario Dominick DiFante was born July 11, 1934 and grew up in the 19th Ward, on Epworth Street. Born to Mario Marianna (Casale). He attended and graduated from Madison High School in 1952, where he played the trumpet, football baseball.
After school he joined the US Navy and went on to work for Taylor Instrument. It was here that he met the love of his life, Maria Adams. He pursued her for quite some time before she gave in and agreed to a date. They were eventually married and celebrated their love for 63 years.
Dominick started the Police Academy for Rochester Police Dept. shortly after their marriage. He was a dedicated, hardworking, meticulous man throughout his life. He spent 36 years with the RPD where he served the community as an officer, detective in the Fraud Unit, K-9 Unit the Vice unit. He was also a VP of the Rochester Police Locust Club.
No matter what, he was always working hard to provide for his family. He owned a small disposal company and he delivered newspapers. He was always on the go! Even with that he still found time to fish, golf play cards and go horseback riding.
Dominick was a family man through and through. He and Maria had 4 children, Kathy, Tony, David Tom. They recall their yearly family vacations fondly. His family most enjoyed family trips that found themselves with a fishing pole in hand hoping that the big one did not get away. He had a love for fishing that started when he was young. He loved animals, especially dogs, loved to go horseback riding and even owned a horse. He enjoyed playing cards, golf and being with his family.
Dominick will be remembered for being: social, hard working, dedicated , having a sense of humor, being a great stroy teller, handy. He could fix or build most anything. There was no project to big for him. He was quick to do things around not only his home but his children's homes as well.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
