Elaine was born May 20, 1935 in Irwin, PA outside of Pittsburgh to her parents Harry Helen (Leger) West. She graduated High School there and later moved to with her family to Rochester, NY.
She worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield working with data entry. She was known for her hard work and was very proud and quick to offer her talents for the more challenging aspects of her job.
Her family was by far the most important thing to her in her life. She always looked forward to ANY reason for a family get together. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with the "kids" she always seemed to have an extra ounce of patience and it was during these special times that the soft side of her personality came out.
Elaine had tried her hand at quilting but where she thrived was in the kitchen. She prided herself on making meals from scratch. Her creative side shined when looking in the cupboards or the fridge and she would then almost magically make a delicious meal appear. Her baking will be missed by her family for sure.
She enjoyed watching TV. Movies that had a twist or a mystery captivated her. She enjoyed watching 007, Law Order, Murder She Wrote and Agatha Christy Movies. It is no coincidence that she also enjoyed a good Mystery Novel too. She could be heard saying "don't work too hard" or don't be so nebby." Growing up outside of Pittsburgh she became a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Elaine was stoic and reserved, but yet to those she loved she was warm, supportive, thoughtful, a good listener, welcoming to others and loved unconditionally. She was also reliable and practical to her approach of life.
She was loved by those who knew her and will be sadly missed.
