Mary Ann Ingles was born in Rochester, NY on May 1, 1931 to Andrew and Olive and grew up on Maryland Street. As a child, her cousins were like siblings and she always enjoyed trips to her Aunt Jennie's farm. She attended Holy Rosary School and then graduated from Nazareth Academy. She worked for the activities department at Brae Loch Manor Nursing Home. Mary Ann worked at a grocery store where she met Robert Slater's mother who came in to shop while Mary Ann was working. Robert's mother asked her to write to Robert while he was away serving in the military. They were later married on October 10, 1953 at Holy Rosary church. Spending time at the family cottage on Lake Ontario in Hilton was one of Mary Ann's favorite tings to do. She also loved making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and hosting Christmas Eve at her home with all of her family. Some of her other favorite things were classical music, watching Animal Planet, she was an Elvis fan and enjoyed horror movies. In her spare time, Mary Ann was a member of Greece Paint Alley Clowns. Her stage name was Pockets and she worked at Rochester General Hospital as a therapy clown. She was also a member of the Clowns International Group. She enjoyed crafts and ceramics and always took in stray dogs and cats. Family and friends would best describe Mary Ann as someone who was loving, kind, knowledgeable, and enjoyed making others smile and laugh. She always made things better, was strong-willed, resilient, had high expectations of family and friends, was a great listener, enjoyed helping others, was diverse, and had a great sense of humor...as well as a sweet tooth! Mary Ann will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
