Resided in: West Henrietta, NY
Michael Keith Degaugh, age 59, of West Henrietta, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2026, while working in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on January 2, 1967, in Rochester, New York, Mike was the son of Dorothy Jean Hanggi Degaugh and the late Arthur Roland Degaugh. From a young age, Mike was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and love of people.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. His lifelong passion for driving and helping others led him to start a specialized delivery business in the 1990s, a career that suited his adventurous nature and love of the open road. Over the years, he drove for many companies, including Covered Wagon and New York Trailways, where he especially treasured his 14 years driving the Patriot Trip-transporting veterans to Washington, D.C., a role that meant a great deal to him. Mike also served as a union steward, always willing to stand up for others.
Most recently, Mike worked with Beat The Street, traveling across America and driving for music tours and bands-a job that perfectly matched his outgoing personality and love for new experiences.
Mike never met a stranger. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved spending time with friends and family, traveling, hunting, and camping with his beloved prize overlanding setup, often alongside his son and wife. Mike was a true coffee connoisseur, a devoted Buffalo Bills fan, and someone who knew how to enjoy the simple joys of life.
He will be deeply missed by his mother, Dorothy Degaugh; his wife, Erna Degaugh; his daughter, Maurissa Degaugh; his son, Connor Degaugh; niece, Danielle Degaugh, his extended family here and in Indonesia. Mike’s friends, many of whom he treated like family, will also forever feel his absence.
In addition to his father, Arthur Degaugh, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Degaugh.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, January 24. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date in warmer weather, when stories can be shared the way he would have wanted-full of laughter, love, and connection.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patriot Trip, P.O. Box 171, Albion, NY 14411, or to the Islamic Center of Rochester, 727 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY 14620
