Onofrio Casa's Life Story
Onofrio was born on December 1, 1935 in Agrigento, Italy, to parents Calogero and Francesca. He was one of four siblings. Unfortunately, the Casa family suffered the loss of Calogero when Onofrio was only four years old. To help support his loved ones, young Onofrio began working on farms at a very young age. From the very beginning, he was resilient, hardworking, feisty, and loving.
Onofrio's life journey took him across the globe. He worked in healthcare for 15 years while living in Germany, cleaned railroad cars in France, washed dishes in Switzerland, and even resided in Australia while working in an automobile factory. In his spare time, Onofrio enjoyed watching tennis, tending to his garden, and reading books about history.
Onofrio's most fateful trip happened when he came to the United States. On the recommendation of a mutual friend, he decided to travel across the Atlantic for the chance at love. He arrived Friday, January 28, 1979 on a forty-day visa. On February 10, 1979, Onofrio met Marie. Their courtship was a brief one, and they married soon after on May 5, 1979 at Holy Apostles Church. Together, they traveled extensively and visited numerous US Parks. Onofrio and Marie would go on to have a long and loving marriage until his passing.
Onofrio was a man of great perseverance and kindness, and he will be dearly missed.
