Pamela was born on July 14th 1943 to Glen and Leona Sawyer near Saranac Lake, NY. One of 8 children, Pam was third oldest and learned at a very young age the importance of taking care of and looking out for her family. Raised in a country setting, the family's fun times of fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and even tapping trees to make maple syrup many times brought food to the table. Fun-loving and adventurous, she enjoyed simple pleasures and was always willing to give anything a try. In grade school her family moved from Up North to Rochester, attending Irondequoit schools where she graduated from high school in 1962. She worked at Bausch Lomb, married and took on her most gratifying occupations as mother of two (Sherry and Don) and homemaker. A wife for many years and mother, she lived for her family and made her house a home full of warmth and love. Pam's love of outdoors continued and she exposed her family to nature's wonders regularly. Gardening, hiking, fishing, and hunting continue to be family hobbies today. A hard worker, she was part of building a family summer home on Jones Pond in the Adirondacks and later a cabin in the woods in Garwoods, NY where many cherished memories and close relationships were enhanced with children, grandchildren, family and friends. A caregiver by nature, she found great pleasure in making everyone comfortable and happy. She was welcoming to all, a good listener and loved to share what ever she had. She was always optimistic, supportive, encouraging, comforting, gave wise advice and seemed to effortlessly make others smile. As adults, her children thought of her not only as Mom, but best friend as well. Enjoying many of the same hobbies, they spent lots of quality special time together that will be forever cherished. Those many home improvement projects and deer hunting trips to mention a few, will always be memories held close to their hearts. As Grammy to six, Ryan, Craig, Connor, Jess, Eric and Erin, she loved them to the fullest as she watched them grow. Spending time with them individually, she bonded with each one of them in a special way. Named "crazy Grammy", she encouraged her grandchildren to try new things, made every effort to help them grow and inspired them to give their all in what they do. Enjoying 25 years of retirement, she followed the warm weather, spending winters in Bradenton, Florida and summers Up Home at her cottage in the Adirondacks near Saranac Lake. Making many new cherished friends, she broadened her hobbies and refined her skills in golf and bowling by joining several leagues. She enjoyed helping others in need, enhancing her homes, taking many adventurous trips with family and friends, reading and loved dancing with friends to the 50's, 60's and 70's music. Mom enjoyed all sports, was an avid LA Dodgers fan, but her favorite team was ours. She showed her excitement most when cheering on her grandchildren. Whether it be wrestling, basketball, football, cheer or baseball "crazy Grammy" could always be picked out in the crowd. Win or defeat, she was always supportive and encouraged all of us to be our best at all times. Dedicating her life to family, living life to its fullest, enjoying life's simple pleasures and taking time to enjoy Mother Nature's wonders, Pam will be deeply missed and she will always be lovingly remembered by all of her family and friends.
