Philomena was born on May 16, 1930 in Rochester, NY and grew up on Canton Street. Her dog was her favorite childhood pal. She graduated from Nazareth Academy and worked at Varden Studios for over 10 years as a sales representative. She was very good at sales. She met her future husband when he gave her a ride in his car. Their first date was over a meatball sandwich. They were married at Holy Apostles Church on April 15, 1950. Philomena always loved Christmas Eve, Saturday night steak dinners at her home, and cherished the births of all her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed games of chance, Poker and card club, and golfing. She was active in her children's and grandchildren's activities, and she was an awesome baker of apple, merengue, chocolate and pumpkin pies. Philomena was a fan of Notre Dame and Buffalo Bills football, Syracuse basketball, and was an avid reader. Famly and friends would best describe Philomena as someone who was strong-willed, devoted, hard-working, dedicated, wise, loving, tenacious, and an advocate for what was right. She was very spiritual, a devout Catholic, was traditional, very proficient mathematically, thrifty, and selfless. Philomena was the family Matriarch who welcomed her children's friends into her home, often saying "you are only a guest once, and after that you become family and need to help yourself". Her famous quote was "God helps those who help themselves". She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
