Richard A. "Doc" Best Richard "Doc" Best, 89, Rochester, NY formerly of Gerry, NY passed October 12, 2020. He was born August 24, 1931 in Jamestown, NY, oldest son of Walter and Ermyntrude Best. He was a 1951 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and a proud Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. A Union carpenter for over 65 years, he enjoyed his work and always had a remodeling project or two going on at home. Richard was a member of the Greece United Methodist Church, and enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, gardening, and boating. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Winifred C. Best; children, Christine (James) O'Dell, Diane (Mel) Chalker, Teresa (Bob) Issa John (Penny) Best; Grandchildren, Merrell (Loren) Fountaine, Marissa Chalker (George Somerville), Rachel (Matt) Heberle, Melanie (Kyle) Canfield, Candi (Bo) George, Ashley (Chris) Peterson; 11 Great Grandchildren; sister Harriet (Bob) Schauman, and brothers Herbert (Edith) Best Malcolm (Mary Lou) Best. Richard was a hard working husband and father who loved his family and will be greatly missed. As per NYS regulations all guests are required to wear a face mask and hand sanitize upon arrival that the funeral home and church. Richard's life story will be shared during his visitation, Sunday October 18th, 1-4 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). His funeral service will be celebrated, Monday, October 19th, 11 AM at Greece United Methodist Church.
