Richard was born on March 26th 1927 in Rochester, NY. His parents were Michael and Barbara Lipani and he had four siblings, Chuck, Gloria, Jean and Milly. Richard wanted a car before he could drive so he begged his father and his dad bought him one. Richard's best friend Burkie, who was older, had to drive the car for him.
Richard was in the Navy where he was also a cook. While in the Navy, Richard jumped into a pool and broke his eardrum and was then discharged due to his injury. After his time in the military, he met his wife Fran and became and Insurance Salesman. Richard and Fran had two children, Dianne and Rich. In time, Richard had 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Everyone called him Dick and in his younger years, Richard liked to play golf, listen to Frank Sinatra and loved red wine. His favorite movie was The Godfather and his favorite sports team was the Buffalo Bills. He loved good food and started to cook on occasion. His favorite saying was "Nothing like a good dish of macaroni." When he dined out, he usually ate prime rib and red wine.
After Richard's wife died, his daughter Dianne would grocery shop for him. She noticed that he would go through 6 boxes of tissues per week. Dianne found out just last week why- Richard broke his nose as a child after falling off a bike. Richard also liked to use a lot of hairspray- can after can. Up to a week before his passing, he still was fixing his hair in the hospital. His children would pick him up to take him out and they would wait while Richard combed and sprayed his hair.
Richard's favorite saying was "This is Rough" and "Mama Mia." Richard's children say that they now find themselves repeating his sayings, which brings a laugh every time. Richard is described as a simple, family man who truly enjoyed and appreciated good food and red wine. Richard will be greatly missed.
