Richard grew up on a farm on Westfall Road in the town of Brighton. He had to begin working at a young age on the family farm following the death of his father. Later on, he worked at Camera Art Company in the darkroom. He dedicated over 40 years with the company.
Richard served in the US Army during WWII. On November 16, 1946, he married Viola. They had been introduced by his sister, Rose, at a social dance.
Family gatherings were always a favorite time for Richard. He was hard working and cared deeply for his family. He was a handyman and always attended church on Sunday. He would enjoy a spaghetti and meatball dinner after church each week. Watching television was Richard's favorite way to unwind. He could often be found in "the chair".
Family and friends would best describe Richard as a good father, dedicated husband of over 67 years, and a loving grandfather. Richard was someone who displayed concern for his children, always asking about their welfare. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
