Dick grew up in Rochester on Finch Street in the Tenth Ward and spent many days at Charlotte beach. He delivered newspapers and was a caddy at Lakeshore Country Club. He attended Holy Rosary grammar school, graduated from Aquinas Institute and was a bowling team member while there. After graduation, Dick worked at Kodak and remained there for over 40 years. He met Kathleen on a blind date and a year and a half later they were married on March 26, 1966 in St. Augustine's church. Dick was a family man and was very active in the lives of his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed family camping trips and perfect Manhattan's. Dick was an avid sports fan, especially for the Yankees and Giants. He watched golf, was an active volunteer at his church, especially Bingo, and was an active volunteer in his sons scouting activities as well as serving as a board member at St. John's. Dick loved being active in his sons lives and activities, liked black white movies, and always enjoyed Wednesday breakfast at the Long Pond Family Restaurant. Playing cards, going to the casino and spending time at the race track with his friends were among some of Dick's favorite ways to pass the time. Family and friends would best describe Dick as being a teddy bear at heart, initially reserved, someone who would lead by example, a gentleman's gentleman, and a self-taught fixer. Dick's grandchildren and daughters-in-law also brought out his softer side. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
