On Saturday, August 31, 2019, at the age of 85. Predeceased by his father and mother, Paul and Antoinette (Lippa) Russello; brother, Michael Russello; sister, Sandra Russello. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy (Betlem) Russello; children, Paul (Susan) Russello and Sandra (Carmine) Petrella; grandchildren, Robert (Tierney) Russello, Jaclyn (Greg) Niewiemski, Christina (Jason) Deats, Esq., Michael (Jennifer) Petrella, and Nicole Petrella, PharmD; great-grandchildren, Madison Michael Petrella, Paul Russello; sisters-in-law, RoseMarie Russello and Jean (Thomas) Adams; many nieces and nephews.
Robert retired from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department as a Detective Sergeant in 1978 and was an Army Veteran. He is a member of ARPALER (Association of Rochester Police Area Law Enforcement Retirees, Inc.) and the American Legion. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
Robert's life story will be shared during visitation, 4-7 PM on Wednesday, September 4th at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, September 5th at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 North Greece Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to ARPALER, 1425 Lexington Avenue, Rochester, NY 14606, in Robert's memory.
Robert was born June 22, 1934 to Paul Antoinette (Lippa) Russello. He grew up in Rochester with his brother, Michael sister, Sandra where he attended Jefferson High School. He loved his pets growing up, a dog named Pooch and a bird named Chirp. Robert joined the U.S. Army November 16, 1953 at age 19 actively serving his country as a Military Policeman during the Korean Conflict. He received a National Defense Service Medal and in November 1955 was transferred to Army Reserve to complete 8 years of service.
After the Army, he became a deputy for Monroe County Sheriff's Dept. where he would become a Detective Sergeant. He was also a Kodak Retiree
Robert and his loving wife, Nancy have been married for 63 years. They enjoyed raising 2 children, Paul Sandra. Robert loved to travel throughout his life, taking over 60 trips to Las Vegas and even overseas to Italy and Europe.
He loved watching the NY Yankees, Jeopardy the History Channel on Sunday's you'd find him watching football and enjoying Sunday Sauce with family.
