Greece: Passed away on July 31, at age 91. Predeceased by his parents, Imrich & Agnes; his loving wife, Garnet; his siblings, Joseph, Martin, Paul, Anna, Agatha, Stephanie, Rudoph, and Albert.
He is survived by his children, Lisa Kovac-Hill, Linda Kovac-Tantalo, & Robert G. (Kelly) Kovac; grandchildren, Valerie (Stephen) Bentivegna, Ryan (Courtney) Hill, Nicholas (Jennifer) Tantalo, Cameron Hill, Jenna (Norm) Cooper, & Konner Kovac; great-grandchildren, Viviana, Lucia, Sonny, Samuel, Riley and Jaina; loving family and friends.
Bob was born on July 25, 1934, in Binghamton, New York, to Imrich and Agnes (Konecny) Kovac, both originally from Czechoslovakia. He was the youngest of eight siblings. Robert graduated from Binghamton High School, where he served as class president, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in education from SUNY Geneseo. He participated in ROTC for four years during college and served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.
Robert married Garnet Wells. After living in various locations, they settled in Bergen, New York, where he worked in education and became a school administrator. He retired at 55 and later split his time between New York and Inverness, Florida. His interests included golf, gardening, dancing, traveling, and spending time at the Elks Club.
Services for Bob were held at the convenience of his family.
