Additional Information
Ruth was born on the 4th of July, 1929 in Geneva, NY. The Spagnolas moved to Charlotte where Ruth and her sweetheart Loder met as teens and began their love story of some 70 years. Ruth attended Holy Cross, Franklin and Charlotte High schools. She worked at the family fruit stand on Lake Avenue and later in film production at Eastman Kodak. Ruth enjoyed dancing, especially jitterbugging with her friends in Charlotte.
Ruth and Loder were married September 9, 1950. Daughter Karen was born in 1953 and Phyllis in 1959.
Ruth was an inspired and creative mother and grandma whose heart held a special place for each child. In Ruth's home there was always soup on the stove, pasta on the way and a smile on her face. She was athletic and enjoyed bowling in the Kodak league and ended that run with a perfect game. Ruth and Loder were avid golfers and longtime members of Brockport Country Club where they made lifelong friends.
Ruth's beautiful heart and loving nature were shared with all she met, especially with new friends made this past year. To this day Ruth and Loder continue to hold dear the friendships from their school years in Charlotte and throughout their marriage.
People who knew Ruth describe her as generous, devoted, intelligent, gentle, fierce, funny, affectionate, gracious and beautiful.
The family wishes to thank the generous caregivers and friends made at Crimson Ridge Gardens, Highland Hospital's ED 5-East, Unity Hospital and the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center where she found her peace. A very special thank you to Dr K and Linda for providing so much more than health care. Thank you Carol and Sal Tripi for all your support and love.
To honor Ruth's memory, instead of flowers please support the Alzheimer's Association, re-connect with a lost friend and be kind.
