Ruth McAllister Rumrill Passed away peacefully at Unity Hospital on November 27th, 2019 with her family gathered around her. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Peter, daughter Ann, sons Timothy and Michael, grandchildren Matthew, Andrew, Peter, Nathaniel, Katy and Carolyn and nieces Sheri and Sandra, nephews Steven and Scott. Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Agnes McAllister and sisters Elizabeth Eldred and her husband James and Jean MacFarlane and her husband Bernard. She was born on December 11th, 1936 and was raised on her parent's dairy farm in York, New York where she acquired her work ethic and rock-solid resilience. Ruthie met Peter while both attended the University of Rochester and were married in May 1959. Ruthie earned a B.A. and M.A. in History from the University of Rochester and Master of Education in Reading from SUNY Brockport. She taught Social Studies and Reading initially with the Gates-Chili Central School District and then with the Wheatland-Chili Central School District for 25 years . Ruth was a devoted, loving and compassionate Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Educator and the center and foundation of her family. A private graveside service and interment will be held at White Haven Cemetery. A memorial service and celebration of Ruth's life will be held at a future date.
