GREECE - December 29, 2019. Sam is survived by his wife Lina (Callea) Chirdo; children, Marianna (Sam) Muscatella, Vincent (Karen) Chirdo Clara Chirdo-Street; grandchildren, Brianna (Bryan) MacSwan, Salvatore "Jesse" Chirdo, Jake Chirdo Adriana (Domenico) Marsocci; brother, Joe Chirdo; several nieces, nephews, cousins dear friends.
Sam's life story will be shared during his visitation at the funeral home, Sunday, January 5th, 1-5 PM, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). His Funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday January 6th, 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. His funeral mass will be immediately followed by his entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Salvatore was born on March 21, 1937 to Vincenzo and Marianna Chirdo in Valguarnera, Sicily. He immigrated to America at the age of 22, in search of the American dream. Salvatore and Lina married on April 29, 1958 and went on to have 3 children, Marianna, Vincent and Clara. Later in life, they were blessed with 4 grandchildren.
Salvatore worked and retired from Eastman Kodak. After his retirement, he was bored, so he worked as a Mason at Cantisano's for 21 years. Salvatore enjoyed hunting and archery. He hunted deer, rabbit, pheasant and bears. He took pride in gardening fruits and vegetables in the back yard. Salvatore and his wife Lina had a home in Florida where they stayed during the winter months. There they enjoyed the warm weather and playing cards with friends.
Salvatore loved Italian and country music and he was known to be the entertainer for his family. He was described as happy, hardworking, brave, resilient and always on the go. Salvatore had a big heart and loved to sing. His family called him "Singing Sam."
Salvatore will be deeply missed and will always be lovingly remembered by his adoring family and many friends.
