Greece - April 10, 2019. Sam is predeceased by his wife, Beverly Ricotta. He is survived by his wife, Gerry Ricotta; children, Sandi (Mark Gregory) Schliff, Debbie (Jimmy) Leonardo, John (Karen) Ricotta; grand­children, Erika (Jeremy) Kuczynski, Brittany Schliff, Johnny Ricotta; sister, Gloria Ricci; caregiver Suzie Davis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Sam was the founder, owner and operator of Barbers 6 in the Greece Ridge Mall. He was one of the original tenants of the then Greece Towne Mall in 1968. No prior visitation. Sam's Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, 10:30 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd., followed by his burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Lifetime Care Hospice, 3111 Winton Rd. S., Rochester, NY 14623 in Sam's memory. Sam was born on September 17, 1938 to Charles Rose Ricotta in Rochester, NY. He grew up on the west side of the city on Verona Street. Sam attended Jefferson High School and formed friendships during his childhood that he remained close with throughout his whole life. During his youth, he liked to bowl and was a baseball coach for Greece Baseball League. Sam married his first wife Beverly and they raised 3 children, Sandi, Debbie John. He worked as a Barber all his life and ran his own shop for over 40 years. Some of Sam's favorite times in life were vacationing with his friends and spending winters in Florida. Later in life, he was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Erika, Brittany and Johnny. Sam married Gerry Ricotta in 2013 and they lived a loving and happy life together. Sam continued to live at home the entire time after being diagnosed with Dementia and was carried for by Gerry and Suzie Davis. Sam loved to go out to dinner with friends, play golf, go fishing, playing cards and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He really loved the game of baseball and he was a NY Giants football fan. He also enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack music. Sam lived his life to the fullest. He was always happy, always wore a smile and was a lot of fun to be around. Sam was blessed with several special, life long friends that he shared many years of wonderful memories with. He was well known and loved by many people in the community. Sam will always be fondly remembered, and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
