Sam passed away peacefully after a heroic battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Sam was predeceased by his parents; 9 siblings and dear young grandson, Jacob. Sam leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Tina (Valente) Curatalo; devoted children, Ann (Randy) Hansen, Lisa (Dan) Dwyer, Christine (Benny Jr.) Sortino, Thomas (Giovanna) Curatalo; grandchildren, Ron Jr. (Erin) DeCamella, Jennifer (Adam) Kelly, Nick, Ryan Dwyer, Andrew, Emily Chatfield, Kaila, Grace, Isabella Curatalo, Corinne Ryan, Marchelle (Tyler) Hoffman, Benny Sortino III; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Christopher (Catherine) Curatalo, Millie Muoio, Rose Profetta; several nieces, nephews, cousins dear friends.
Services
Sam's visitation will be Thursday 2-4 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 Long Pond Rd). Sam's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 11 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church (5000 Mt. Read Blvd). Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Christ Our Light Mausoleum immediately following.
Additional Information
Sam was an inspiration and a friend to all who knew him. Whenever anyone was hurt, had a problem or just needed a friend, Sam was the man. Sam's life was F-A-N-tastic! His favorite music was, Big Band, Frank Sinatra, Pavaroti, Boccelli and Jitter Bug. Sam enjoyed Christmas Eve, golfing, dancing, watching all of grandchildren's events, cooking, gardening and grilling. He was very passionate about Tina and his family. He loved Nick Tahou's hot dogs, Handy Man Donuts. He served as president of the Kings Queens Retirement Club. He also belonged to the WRO Retirement Club. He was the head usher at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. He was a leader, always smiling, positive thinker and a great fundraiser for charities. He was employed as a finisher at Hickey Freeman and delivered flowers for Rockcastle Florist.
