Sam is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Mary Donofrio;siblings, Margaret Ferrauilo, Andrew, Anthony, Guy, Carmen, Mary, Joseph Donofrio. He is survived by his sister Angela Ferraro; nephew Rick Ferraro; great-nephews who were like his grandsons, Richard, Jr. Christian Ferraro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Sam's life story will be shared during his visitation, Thursday, October 4th, 3-7PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). His funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 5th, 9:30AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave., followed by being laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hildebrandt Hospice, 2652 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626.
Sam was born in May of 1930. In 1951, Sam joined the United States Army, where he would serve proudly, and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal Germany.
Sam spent his working years as a Union Secretary for Delco Local 509 in Rochester, NY. He liked to travel, especially when he took trips to Italy. He enjoyed going to the casino or lunch with friends.
Family was very important to Sam. He bought a home in FL. specifically for his family to relax and enjoy. He was such an easy going, generous and kind person. Sam was a longtime parishioner of his church. He loved spending time volunteering at St. Anthony's and singing in the choir.
Sam treated everyone equally and was known to be a very social person who was easy to talk to. Sam will always be fondly remembered, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
