Sandra Szalkai

Ogden: March 26, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband, John; her parents, Peter & Mildred Torrelli; and her brother, Ronald Torrelli (Shirley). She is survived by her children, John (Kim) Szalkai & Rene (Steve) Ess; grandchildren, Ava, Olivia, Samantha (Mackenzie) Schaefer & Jeffrey. Sandi was also surrounded by loving friends and extended family, including many cherished nieces and nephews.

Sandi enjoyed her single life working as a hairdresser and living in California. She later met the love of her life on the ski slopes in Buffalo and chose to live in Rochester to raise a family.

Sandi dedicated over 30 years of her life as a special education teacher’s aide at Greece Arcadia High School, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with her compassion and patience.

She also enjoyed pitching in to help in the lives of those she loved in whatever capacity she was needed. She enjoyed gardening and cooking while pouring her love into feeding everyone her favorite foods. Sandi found joy in meeting people and cherished the laughter and playful times together.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 10 am-12 pm at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester, 14626, followed by a funeral service at 12 pm. Sandi will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Meridian Centre Blvd, Ste 110, Rochester, NY 14618, in Sandi’s memory.
