Stan grew up in the Point Breeze neighborhood. He grew up around the water and spent a lot of time there. He was credited with saving the lives of two different people who had mishaps around the water. This was something he was proud of but he rarely shared this with other people. During his high school years he enjoyed playing football. Stan met the love of his life Jean while he was stationed wit the Coast Guard in Brooklyn. Their love affair began innocently enough. The two were on a bus and Stan asked if the seat next to her was taken. Their whirlwind began as they were married that year on Christmas Day. Soon thereafter Stan was deployed and served his country honorably spending much of his Time in the South Pacific during WWII. Stan enjoyed the simple things in life. His family was at the center of everything he did in life. He was devoted to his wife and children. His grandchildren could always get him to smile. All they needed to do was walk into the room and Stan would be glowing. Stan was very humble but there was one thing that he would share his pride over with others. He was most proud of the fact of how well all of his children got along with each other. Stan always put others first, he was generous and quick to help anyone in need. He worked for 36 years at Eastman Kodak Company. He always down played his importance as an individual but did his part to make the team stronger. Stan enjoyed camping, fishing and working in his yard. He and Jean enjoyed Square Dancing and were members for many years of the Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club. The two enjoyed travel and especially enjoyed going on cruises. The only thing that they enjoyed more is when they traveled with family and friends. For most of his children's life the holidays were at Stan Jean's home. Stan was the cook. He would say"get out of my way." He maintained this family tradition until just recently. The family continues to have the holidays but does so fondly remembering the Holiday's of yesterday with Stan leading the charge in the kitchen. Stan always looked forward to celebrating his family member's birthdays. In his typical giving fashion he always down played his own Birthday. He was loved and will be missed by those who knew him.
