Theron A. Ross Jr.

August 14, 1931 ~ October 29, 2024

Theron A. Ross Jr. of Greece, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024.
Theron’s life story began on August 14, 1931, in the small town of Duanesburg, NY to parents Theron and Virginia Ross. Theron spent the first 8 years of his education in a one-room schoolhouse in Braman Corners. He attended and graduated from Delanson High School in 1950. He grew up on a dairy farm, which required him to milk the cows twice daily (an activity he did not fondly remember). Theron sold all the cows just prior to enlisting in the US Navy in 1952. He was a graduate of the US Naval Electronics Technician School in 1953. He was then stationed in Key West, Florida. Theron received an honorable discharge in 1954.

Theron married Jennie in 1953. He went on to Hudson Valley Community College, in Troy, NY, graduating in 1956 with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology. To receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, in 1965, he attended Union College in Schenectady, NY. During the years following his Naval discharge, Theron worked at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and the GE Research Lab.
After a move to Rochester, NY in 1965, Theron went on to work for Eastman Kodak Company, retiring in 1989 after 24 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of St. Lawrence Church in Greece as a lector, usher, and Boy Scout Leader. He was a great friend to many, willing to lend a helping hand anytime. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, pistol club, traveling, and fixing and building things (earning the Mr. Fixit nickname to his neighbors). His passions were his family as well as restoring and showing antique cars, where he earned many national awards for his meticulous work. Theron never met a dessert he did not like. Theron had a witty sense of humor.

Theron was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Jennie Ross; parents, Theron and Virginia Ross; brothers, Ernie, Clarence and Ray Ross; sisters, Aleta Martin, Ruth Gaige, Violet Whitbeck and Shirley Laven. He is survived by his children, Patty (Mike) Keenahan, Ted (Lisa) Ross; grandchildren, Meaghan Keenahan, Kerrie (David) Bell, Bradleigh Ross, Ashley (Josh) Ross-Colvin, Brandon Ross; brother, Ralph (Linda) Ross; great grandchildren, Owen Ross, Ethan Ross-Whitmore, Logan Gibson, Joshua Bell; nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Theron’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of the St. Ann’s Wegman Care Center Seneca Household.

Theron’s family will receive friends from 9:15 am until 10:00 am on Saturday, November 9th at St. Ann’s Chapel, 1500 Portland Ave. His Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Theron will be laid to rest in Falls Cemetery, Greece, NY. Memorial donations can be made in Theron’s name to the St. Ann’s Home Star Fund, 1500 Portland Ave, Rochester NY 14621.
