On August 20, 2013, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a heroic battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 39 years, Mirta; his 3 children, Marco (Lacy), David (Sarah) Caterina (James) Tempest; grandchildren, Avery Addison, Angelo Michela, and Vincenzo; brother, John B. (Laura); sister, Maria "Carmela" (Giorgio) Lanza; several nieces nephews. A special thank you to Lifetime Care and the Hildebrandt Hospice Center for their gentle, loving care.
Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd.) Vincenzo's funeral mass will be 9:30 AM Friday at Our Mother Of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hildebrandt Hospice, 3111 S. Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623 in Vincenzo's memory.
Vincenzo was born on October 27, 1948 to Caterina (Pascale) Alfonso and was born in Pietramelara, Caserta in Italy. He had one brother, John "Battista" and sister, Maria "Carmela". During his young adult years, Vincenzo worked as a dental technician and learned the carpentry trade in his later teen years. Vincenzo met Mirta through family and friends. On August 24, 1974, they were married at Holy Family Church. He attended trade school in America and worked as an instrument maker at Eastman Kodak for 29 years.
Vincenzo had a deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Family vacations were educational for his children. He loved history and nature. Some of Vincenzo favorite activities were gardening including vegetables and fruit trees. He was very handy and mechanical.
Friends and family would best describe Vincenzo as proud, courageous and determined.
