Spurr, Warren F. Greece: April 10, 2014. Predeceased by his wife, Josephine C. (Chesnut) Spurr. Survived by his son, Robert (Lynn) Spurr; grandchildren, Trisha (fiance David Winsor) Spurr, Ian Spurr, Morgan Spurr; great-grandson, Taylor Spurr. Services were held in Maryland at the convenience of the family. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, Fl. 33134 in Warren's memory. Warren was born in Appleton, Wisconsin to Bess and Irving Spurr. He grew up in New London, Wisconsin. During his childhood, Warren met his schoolmate and best friend Lloyd Bodoh and remained close friends throughout their entire lives. At the age of 19, Warren moved to Washington, DC where he was employed at the Department of State for 40 years. During his career he spent time in Paris as a Cryptographer encoding and decoding messages for the Paris Peace Treaties in 1947. During his career he met with numerous world figures including Jimmy Carter and Henry Kissinger. Warren was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast with special interest in the Washington Senators, Nationals Redskins and of course the Green Bay Packers. He met Josephine at the age of 20 as he worked a second job as a switchboard operator at the Rooming House where he lived. They married after 6 years. Nine years later their only child Robert was born. Warren's mother lived with them for the next 30 years. Warren retired at the age of 59 and enjoyed life over 30 years. Warren really enjoyed the annual family vacation, including a 3 day journey to Oklahoma to visit Jo's family, then two days to Wisconsin, and a stop in Illinois to visit the Budoh family. He also enjoyed regular outings to Washington Senators games with Bob and the Hage's. Warren will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
