  1. She was my music teacher but I met her later in life when she showed up to my mothers bedside in hospice. From what I understood she switched her career and was employed by strong hospital. What is that position called? I had such a powerful spiritual connection with her and she told me I was on a spiritual journey and it really took me aback. I’m not sure if it was the moment or I was just being emotional but I f felt a strong strong connection between us in the crown of my head. Outside of the energy work I do during mediation I’ve never felt such a sensation. I’m in the middle of describing this to someone today and decided to look her up. Seeing that she’s passed has me very sad. I want to know if anyone knows what type of work she did after being a music teacher.

  2. I was just thinking about you . For you to cross my mind now means you were incredibly impactful. I thank you for sharing your light me me as a child. The memories at 16 school marching to the auditorium will never be forgotten. Thank you again . I pray for comfort for your family and I thank the Lord above for sharing you. Rest in peace.

  3. Ms Pratt was my music teacher at #16. She taught my older sister, my younger brother and all my nieces and nephews. She was truly an inspiration. As an adult when I share with my friends about my music class in elementary school, they cannot believe the diversity of music that I learned as a child. It was because of her that I love everything from the sound of music, to bebop. Thank you for the impact that you had on our lives. As an adult, we still communicated and it was a blessing because she remembered me. She was a constant reminder of kindness. And for that, I say thank you to the Pratt family for sharing her with us. And I know heaven is singing right now because of her.!

  4. Alice, Thanks so much for being such a great inspiration to me musically and personally. You helped me so much in my younger days to figure out music was my thing. So sorry I could not be there for your celebration of life as I just found out you had left us. May God Bless Ron and the rest of the family at this time of sorrow. You may have left us in the physical form but your spirit lives on eternally.
    ~Marco Amadio

  5. Mrs. Pratt – You made such a difference in your student’s’ lives. My favorite memories attending School 16 were in your classroom for grades 3 thru 6. I am 55 now. You will never be forgotten. Heather (Farrell) Fabregat.

I am devastated that I heard this news too late to attend the services and pay my respect to Alice. I am so very, very sorry! Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time!

With my deepest sympathy, prayers and love,

  18. Alice was kind enough to allow me ( as a brand new teacher in the RCSD) to sit in and observe her classes and share her knowledge and passion for kids and music. She was so generous with her time, resources and talent. She encouraged me to go and get my Orff-Schulwerk training and it changed the course of my life . I am now 23 years into my music teaching career and I am carrying on her legacy of loving kids through the power of music. Thank you Alice!

  19. I met Alice at Nazareth College when she became a professor and along with her husband taught intro to music education. Upon learning that she had been an RCSD music teacher, I immediately shared that it was my goal and passion to teach in the RCSD. She continued to mentor me through my time at Naz and early years as an music educator in the RCSD. I will never forget the knowledge and care she shared with me. I know I am a better music teacher because of her influence. Thank you, to both Ronald and Alice. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family as you navigate through this time in your life.

  20. One of the best music teachers I’ve ever had. I really do miss school 16 so many memories. Thank you for always pushing and showing my siblings and I the way of music.

  21. Mrs. Pratt was my mom’s best friend ( I could never call her Alice- out of respect). Ever since she and Mr. Pratt met with my dad for their taxes they have been a part of our family. She offered a peaceful spirit to our family camping trips and as an adult she gave sound teaching advice.. Mrs. Pratt was a light in the world and example of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. She will be truly missed but her memory and impact will live on. She is now singing with the angles and is hearing “well done, my good and faithful servant.”

  22. Ron and you became our friend through Louise and Richard Fleming. We are so happy these past 8 years of knowing you. We had great conversations and I will miss that but we know you are in heaven, smiling down on us. Love Claire Spin-Kelly and Bill Kelly

  23. Mrs. Pratt…you were a force of nature! I loved being your student. You were passionate, funny and full of life. You encouraged me and provided me with opportunities and experiences that have made me who I am today. You made a huge difference in my life. I’m glad I had the chance to tell you all of that at your retirement party. I love you. -Athesia

  24. Mrs Pratt was the most patient, kind teacher ever. She took time with me to try out for chorus because I was so nervous. I baby sat her first daughter a few times. I went back to visit her because she was so loving. She was a true bright diamond. May your family find comfort in knowing you touched so many lives.
    Joy

  25. Mrs. Pratt taught both my children at Hochstein and will always hold a special place in our hearts. She was an amazing teacher that had a way of making each child she taught shine bright. We were so blessed to have her in our lives.

  26. Our daughter, Izzy, was in Little Singers with Mrs. Pratt. There are not words sufficient to express the impact Alice had on her. She encouraged her passion for music, her joy in composing and was the first to have Izzy to perform her original compositions at concerts. But even more important than that, was how kind, loving and patient she was with all of the kids, producing consistently terrific performances. Her belief that they were all talented was a gift that I am convinced continues to last for any child lucky enough to have spent time with Mrs. Pratt.

  27. Ms Pratt as we called her as children, was so full of life and was known for teaching us the Rhythm of Life. She not only was one of my best teachers at #16 school, she also taught my children who were very fond of her as well. She will be truly missed in our family. Definitely the LIGHT OF JOHN WALTON SPENCER #16 SCHOOL

  28. Alice was a beautiful child of God no matter what she was going through – love her smile and her singing started my time at CBS for many years- will miss you- sing loud from heaven to us on earth Lucille Monti

  29. Ohhh Magalena Hagalena….. I can still remember her singing that at No. 16 School. Mrs. Pratt was my favorite teacher of all time. Certainly an Angel .

  30. Mrs.Pratt was my elementary school music teacher ❤️ Loved the energy and kindness she showed. She definitely Loved teaching and was an absolute pleasure to have known❤️

  31. Alice was a shining light and someone that always brought a smile to my face. I enjoyed greatly my opportunities to engage and get to know her & Ron while she was the amazing Lungforce hero for the american lung association. We also had so much fun together in Washington DC for LF advocacy day. She will be missed by all. Thanks to her for being such a positive and dedicated advocate for others ( family & friends and those affected by cancer too). she was and will always be a true hero to me.

  32. Alice, I am so glad for the time we shared. Laughing and recounting our love and connection to Italian and America cultures. How it made us who we are 🙌❤️. Thank you for the times spent together reflecting on the blessings of life, family, and music. Both of us CRAZY in love with our kids, families 👌👏✨🤣You brought much joy everywhere you went. I will cherish your memory … until we meet again 🙏🙌✨❤️you are a gift to the world ✨

  33. I can’t say that I’m loss for words. Sad indeed even hurt by this news. Mrs. Pratt had impacted my life in a positive way by allowing almost if not all to join her choir. It was like keeping us out of trouble by having us look forward to something. I looked forward to going to music class. It felt like a safe place. Her presence was warming. That smile I can still see while she’s at the piano. I remember she had warm-up songs for us to sing (la la la la la-hold) The songs she taught, I sing to date (going up yonder, Charlie Parker, Better Not Chew) I learned the National Anthem in her class. The instruments she introduced us to was not of the flute. She had us playing instruments that I only played in her class to date. Mrs. Pratt, you are one of a kind! You have impacted so many lives. You are loved. You will be missed. Thank you for the memories

  34. The legendary Mrs. Alice Sciscioli Pratt
She is the first human who comes to mind when I think of my favorite teacher. She wrote my first letter of recommendation to become an educator and I still have it.

I hold countless memories in my heart of my time shared with her being my elementary music teacher. She was culturally responsive from day one!! I couldn’t wait for music class and choir to start and wished it never had to end.

Many of the songs she taught still play in my mind:
    Charlie Parker Plays Bebop
    Dem Bones
    Ra Ta Ti Ti Ta
Devil’s Got the Bubblegum But YOU (don’t say chew) Better Not – warm up choir song

She lifted and affirmed us on performance nights. I admired how she’d dress up those nights and I find myself doing the same for my school. My two favorite songs (that I believe she won awards for) were the Kwanzaa song (she asked me to wear my dashiki and light the kinara as we sang about each day) and The Rhythm of Life. We created a step to it that she let us perform.

I’m so happy to have had the honor of being one of her students. Any thought of her brings the best feeling. May our memories of you live on forever 💕

  35. I can’t begin to express my sadness on the loss of such a talented woman who had a beautiful soul. She was my first music teacher in the 80’s into the early 90’s. She was a woman that was amazing at what she did and did it well! I haven’t seen her since the early 90’s but I can tell you she contributed in a positive way in the morals and values I have today. I’m sure I’m one of thousands she impacted. I just want to say thank you Mrs Pratt! I know you’re loved and you will be greatly missed.

  36. Mrs. Pratt was my music teacher at # 16 school. She was one of my favorite teachers. I always looked forward to going to her class.

  37. Wowww, I am at a loss for words. Mrs Pratt was my music teacher at #16 School. She was lovable and truly loved her students and enjoyed what she did. She taught me alot musically and will forever be in my memory ❤️

  38. Mrs. Pratt was my first music teacher at #16 school. She is the reason why I love music and Christmas concerts. She will be missed dearly.

  39. Alice had a beautiful voice that I was able to hear for many years at CBS and was able to play the piano for her. She is singing in heaven with that smile she always had on her face. She loved her husband, family and grandkids very much. We always talked about the family as that was very important to her. She will be truly missed but has touched so many lives.

  40. My first school music teacher…one of the first to recognize and encourage my love for music. At #16 school…she spoiled ME and all of my siblings beginning with Miranda, Delia, Crystal, ME, Sasha, and Jimmy :)!!! I always felt like we were her favorites…and we were! We got all the school song leads, because she knew she could trust that we would make her proud! It wasn’t until we were Facebook friends that we saw other people saying “they” were her favorite students….HA…the lies they told themselves 🙂 🙂
She was MY favorite…and some years ago I saw her at the YMCA and she knew EXACTLY who I was. She taught sooooo many children but of course she would remember one of her favorites! There will never be another…some would say she set the bar…I say she IS THE BAR…she’s the G.O.A.T. She had her way about her that could make anyone fall in love with her presence and her essence. We were all blessed to experience everything that made her her! So many of us would be lost without music…she gave it to us…she nurtured it in us…so much so…we became it! I will love you forever Mrs. Pratt!!! Thank you for giving us YOU…unapologetically!!!
My sincerest condolences to the Pratt and Prince Families-thank you for sharing her with all of us.

  41. My sincere sympathies to your family who you loved so much. I have so many good memories working together. My favorite memories are being together with Father Pius and you and Ron at the healing masses. My ultimate favorite memory is our walks on the secret path where we shared our hearts and souls and took pictures with the roses which I knew were blooming just for you. I know you are at peace , I know Jesus has you, I will miss you my vivacious, talented, amazing friend…

  42. Sending all of my love to all of the Pratt family and friends. My heart breaks for you but I know she is no longer suffering. Many prayers for your healing. Love to you all

    Erica Salber
