I met Andy at my Dad’s Celebration of Life in April 2024. Andy had worked with my Dad (Dick Bowman) at Kodak, and they had belonged in several outside activity circles as well. They both attended the Kodak “RIF” lunch meetings in Rochester. Andy spread the word to the ex-Kodakers and other associates about my Dad’s event, and I was able to meet them and get more glimpses of my Dad’s life. I am so grateful to Andy for that.
It was a pleasure reading about his life in the obituary, and also watching the video posted here.
To Jean and the “kids”: Nancy, Dan, John, Judith, Patricia, Kathleen.
Sincere condolences on the recent passing of Andy. I have been out of town or would have been present at his wake. Fond memories of Andy’s commitment to St. Lawrence, as well as his involvement in the community and various volunteer agencies—and the scholarship established for NYST Andrew J. for which Aquinas is ever grateful. May your hearts discover peace, knowing that Andy showed us a life well lived–he is now caught up in the loving arms of our God. Especially during these days, you remain in my prayers and in my heart.

He rarely spoke about his service but when he did you could tell he was a very very proud navy man. A few years ago, a grandson joined the navy and my father-in-law was over the moon that he was allowed to swear him in as an officer.
My favorite memory of my Uncle Andy was when he took me duck hunting when I was 17, right after I took my hunter safety class. We went to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge on a day set aside for new hunters, and soon after shooting time I missed my first two black ducks after he had called them into our decoys. He was so kind and patient, despite me not being able to hit the broad side of a barn that morning. I wanted to grow up and be just like him. Uncle Andy will always be my godfather.
I will remember Andy as a kind and gentle man. I knew him from GVA and was on several runs with him as my driver. He used to tell me about his daughter who was also a nurse and it turned out i knew her well from Genesee ER. RIP dear Andy.
I will always cherish the years we volunteered together at GVA. You were the kindest soul. You loved your family more than anything. May you rest in peace with AJ and the others who have gone before. God bless Jean and all your family.
So many memories of Andy from over the years. An avid and successful outdoorsman, and an even better man. My sincere condolences to Jean and the entire Sperr family on your loss.
