Audrey or “Mrs. Stecher” as I respectfully called her, was a dear friend of my Mom, Ev Bowman. I used to hear about all of the silly fun things those two did together, and the laughs and giggles- flea markets, Bottle Club, Golden Glow- the list goes on. I remember my Mom telling me how Audrey sometimes answered the phone at the former Pampered Pets in the mall as “Peppered Pants” – just one of those silly things. As couples, both my parents (Dick and Ev Bowman) and Jack and Audrey shared several hobbies and interests as well. Audrey and my Dad were considered seasoned bridge players and were partnered together, while Jack and my Mom were considered “novice” players, when they got together for a game. Yet Jack and Mom always seemed to win… a source of good humor and a favorite tale often retold! I’m grateful for the happiness and humor all these fun times brought to both families. Condolences to Jack, Diane, Karen, and their families.
On behalf of the Duplicate Bridge Group at The Center @ Greece Town Hall, I express our sympathies to Audrey’s family and friends. Audrey was a regular in our game for many years.
Audrey was someone who you knew that if you were having a bad day and called her she would make it better. She always had the right answer to life’s little problems. We met in the early ’70s through the bottle club. Audrey, Ev Bowman & I shared many adventures most of them hilarious, at least we thought so. I will miss Aud’s wonderful sense of humor, we three giggled our way through many occasions, and our husbands, Dick, Kel & Jack fortunately put up with us. We had such wonderful times! I love you and will miss our phone calls. You put up a good fight, Jack did a wonderful job of helping you and certainly did more than his part “In sickness and in health”. God Bless Jack and your family. Joanne Kelsey
Mom, I always knew that I could share anything and everything with you, and that you would. be understanding and supportive without judgement or putting pressure on me . You allowed me to find my own way in the world.. There are so many things I admired about you and I hope to live my life trying to be my best self in your honor.
Aunt Audrey was one of the greatest humans to ever grace this planet. She will be missed by so many, including me. So many memories from fishing to playing pool – and that ever present smile. Love always, David Honan
