Benny was born on January 10, 1981 in Rochester, NY where he grew up in a large family with many siblings. During his childhood, he enjoyed many sports and hobbies, such as baseball, football, wrestling, fishing, gardening, hunting, boating, camping and ice fishing. When Benny was 8 years old he saw there was some guys fishing and he asked them how it was going. The men replied that they hadn't caught anything all day. Benny went to our boat and grabbed 5 ft. of fishing line and grabbed a hot dog. He went back to where the men were and caught 5 fish in 10 minutes with the line wrapped around his finger. The men still caught nothing. Another time, Benny's mom was out and the babysitter was there. He had a small garden but a ground hog kept eating all his vegetables and he was MAD! So, he did a Benny thing and came in to get his uncle's shotgun so he could shoot it. It freaked the babysitter out so much, she called her Mom to come over. The babysitter's Mom took the gun and put it away but I'm pretty sure that babysitter never babysat for him again. During his teen years, Benny became the Monroe County Wrestling Champion. He completed high school plus an additional two years of culinary school.
Benny served in the the U.S. Air force, 822nd SFS-1. Hewas awarded the following honors during his time in the Air Force: Medals of Honor from US AIR FORCE, Air force training ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air force Outstanding unit award, Air force outstanding unit award w/ valor, Expeditionary service ribbon with 2 OLCS with gold border, Global war on terrorism expeditionary medal.
After his time in the military he worked as a Pipe Layer at Monroe Roadways in North Carolina. During his free time, Benny liked going to go to the Miller Fest and especially enjoyed summer vacations every year with his family to Myrtle Beach and Mexico Beach. His greatest day was the birth of his daughter, Alexis. Benny was known to create the most amazing gardens that he took such pride in. He also loved going to the Florida Keys and was a Nascar racing fan. Benny loved to watch movies and his favorite movie was The Notebook. He was a wonderful father to Alexis and loved to be around his family, friends, as well as his several nieces and nephews. Benny was described as someone who liked to joke around and have fun, his family shared stories of him telling people they have a spot on their shirt and then flicking their nose when they look to see. Benny held a very positive outlook on life as he would often say "It's all good." He was always helping others and was also known to be very generous as he would "give the shirt off his back to anyone." Benny had a very positive impact in the world and he will be forever missed and always dearly remembered.
