Betty was born to Harold and Lorretta Knapp on December 16, 1925 in Rochester, NY where she was raised with her 9 siblings. Growing up, she liked to shop and cook and perfected her potato pancakes, cheesecake and deviled eggs.
She attended East High School and as a teen she liked shopping and later managed RC's clothing store. She eventually settled into a career as an office manager at TelTru Manufacturing in the shipping department.
On a blind date set up by Belle Pete Palombo, Betty met Sam and they were eventually married at St. Anthony's Church during a huge rain storm. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage and raised two children together, Dave Gina.
Some of Betty's favorite events included the days that her children were born. She also loved retirement in Florida and going to Cyprus Gardens. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed camping, crocheting, and crafting, especially holiday decorations. She also liked to watch Golden Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond on tv.
Betty's kids fondly recall the time their dad was teaching her to drive the lawn mower and she ran over his prized walnut tree! Also, when she was baking a cheesecake, you did NOT want to go into the kitchen. Betty felt if you walked too hard across the floor, the middle of her cheesecake would fall. If you did dare go into the kitchen, she would warn you not to touch the oven. The kids just stayed out of the kitchen altogether.
Family and friends would best describe Betty as someone who was strong willed, determined and very loving. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
