Bong Ye Yun was born in 1927 in Incheon, South Korea. She immigrated with her family in 1980, initially to New York City and eventually created a permanent home in Rochester, NY. She lived a love-filled 87 years and passed away peacefully the evening of August 17, 2014 at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY. She is survived by four children: daughter Jinsook (Chun), daughter Jinsoon (Kim), son Choonsik Yun and daughter Jinok (Kang). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Alice Chun, Sandra Chun, Suji Kim, Amy Kuang, Su Young Yun, James Kim, Mina Kang, Ann Yun, Steve Kang, and one great-grandchild Alexis Kuang. Bong Ye was the foundation of her family and sacrificed everything so they could live a better life. Mother to all, she loved and raised her grandchildren as if they were her very own. She was an amazing woman and the unheralded heroine of her family's life story. As the champion of her family, she led a life filled with adventure, struggle, and sacrifice in pursuit of the American dream. Her beauty was only surpassed by her generous spirit and kind heart. She will be greatly missed.
