Webster: March 7, 2013. Predeceased by his parents, Carl Josephine Gianforte. Survived by his partner/spouse of 38 years, Stephen M. Metildi; sister, Carol (Robert) Rathbun; sister-in-law, Mildred Polino; nieces nephews, Wendy (Nick) DiNapoli, Michelle (Mike) Smalle, John (Stephanie) Schifano, John Polino, Laura (Kevin) Schultz Michael Polino; great-nieces great-nephews, Isabelle Nicholas Schifano, Brooke RJ Paolotto, Gia Polino, Steven Schultz; special friend, Loren Ostrander.
Carl's visitation will be held 2-4 7-9 on Sunday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Ln (between Rte 390 Long Pond Rd) His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cure Pancreatic Cancer Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave, Bethpage, NY 11714.
Carl attended Holy Cross School and was a 1969 graduate of Aquinas Institute. He was a good student and went on to earn 2 Masters Degrees from Brockport and University of Rochester.
He was always a supportive family member. He often hosted large events, especially at Christmas. He enjoyed trips to Cape Cod and summer family picnics. Carl often spent quality time with his nieces and nephews, taking trips to the museum, etc.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time in his yard. He often had garden tours at the property. He planted at least 300 trees in his yard and also had a Daylilly garden. He liked to tutor children and was always willing to help others. Carl enjoyed classical music, reading, and Broadway Theatre. He was very social and loved to share. He liked to read and then discuss books with others. Volunteering at WXXI was important to him.
Cape Cod was his favorite vacation spot and he loved riding his bicycle there and around Webster.
Carl loved and respected life and always found the best in every person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
