Carol J. Gorman, 84, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. Born on March 17, 1942, to the late Horace P. Baker and Laura Baker, Carol lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.
Carol was a proud graduate of John Marshall High School and attended School #41. She carried her Rochester roots with her throughout her life. She was of Methodist faith and sometimes attended events and services at Pultneyville Methodist Church with her daughter, Laura Lee Cantwell, where she found comfort and fellowship.
Carol is survived by her beloved children, her daughter Laura Lee Cantwell, her son James Earl Kelley, and her daughter Tracy Ann Kelley, who is disabled and brought her mother so much joy; her cherished grandchildren, Richard J. Cantwell III, Jeffrey Lee Cantwell, and Nicole Marie Cantwell; Laura Lee Cantwell’s boyfriend, Richard J. Cantwell Jr., who was like a son to her; her sister, Elizabeth Ann Galen; and many loving nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved sister, Gwen Holley.
Carol took great pride in her work. She began her career at Delco Appliances, continued at Eastman Kodak, and finished her working years as a devoted bus driver for Lifetime Assistance, where her warm smile and caring spirit touched the lives of everyone she served.
Her final days were spent at the Advent House in Fairport, NY, where all the staff and volunteers took such wonderful care of her. The family is deeply grateful for their compassion, kindness, and support.
Our mother was the kindest and most generous person we have ever known. She loved her children with her whole heart, gave selflessly to everyone she met, and will forever remain in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Flowers and donations may be made in her honor to the Advent House in Fairport, NY or Pultneyville Methodist Church.
