Some people come into your life and become more than friends. They become family. David was that to me. I’ve known him since I was 9 years old, and to me, he was my brother.
His passing seemed sudden and heartbreaking. But if there’s one thing I’ll always remember about David, it’s that nothing ever stopped him from living life. Even with all the medical things he dealt with over the years, he handled it all like a trooper. He kept going, kept laughing, kept showing up, kept things moving forward doing the things he loved. That was just who he was.
So many of my childhood memories have him and his beautiful family in them, and I’m beyond grateful for that. He was one of those people you just expected to always be there, and was. He didn’t let you down.
I truly believe he’s with the Lord now, at peace and free from all the burdens of this world.
Lord, thank You for the gift of David’s life and for all the memories we were blessed to share with him. Please bring comfort and peace to everyone who loved him and remind us that this goodbye is not forever. Amen.
From L&D Fruit, Veltre’s, MDA Telethons, flea markets, random drives, Corning Glass Museum, NYC, Philly and everywhere in between. Holidays , family events of all sorts, good and bad. You were there.
Phones calls that started with “real quick” and hung up an hour later. You were there.

On behalf of myself and the Friends & Families Muscular Disorders Foundation Board of Directors, We extend our sincerest condolences. Our thoughts are with those who knew David Donofrio, a cherished friend and dedicated advocate. We fondly remember David’s tireless efforts, particularly his involvement with the MDA Telethon and his tenure on the Rochester MDA board of directors alongside myself. David’s initiative, Friends of A.W.A.N.D. (Adults With A Neuromuscular Disorder), provided a meaningful experience for many Adults at the Rotary Sunshine Camp annual weekend retreat until the pandemic. His support for Friends & Families Muscular Disorders Foundation in the Rochester area was invaluable, offering assistance whenever needed.
Dave we’re more than a friend you were like brother to me. Will miss our phone calls and hearing Oscar in the background yelling at you.
