Diane was born July 14, 1950, in N. Braddock, PA to her parents Anthony Mary Bartman who have predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister Lori Bartman brother, Anthony Bartman. Diane will be remembered as a dedicated nurse who always put her patients first. She graduated from Genesee Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. Once out of school she began her nursing career at Genesee Hospital where she worked until 1978.
On May 12, 1978, Diane was married to Mark Powers at St. Mary's Church in downtown Rochester. They soon moved to Richmond, VA to begin their new life together. Diane began working for the Medical College of Virginia as the manager of their recovery room until her return to Rochester in 1984. Upon her return to Rochester, Diane began working at Rochester General Hospital, where she was the managing nurse of the ICU. While at Rochester General she worked hard to help unionize the nurses during the 1980s. In 1991, Diane moved to Park Ridge Hospital where she managed the operating rooms. Diane's outstanding career ended serving the Cardiac Cath Lab at Park Ridge Hospital. Diane was known for her professionalism and knowledge. She became the gold standard of care and her co-workers always admired her for that.
When Diane wasn't working her passions were her family, friends and beloved dogs, Coco Frank. Diane was a staunch NY Yankees fan. During the last 6 months Diane was able to check four places off her bucket list that she always wanted to visit. She first took a train trip to Sedona, AZ visited the Grand Canyon; she then traveled to Sarasota, FL to see her beloved Yankees at Spring Training Camp; she went onto visit family in Las Vegas, Nevada and finally spent a week in Maine overlooking a beautiful river where she could sit out and enjoy the sun with her family and pups. Diane's final six months became a reality due to Diane's will to live and her daughter Liz's amazing care of Diane. Losing Diane will forever make us heart broken. We can only hope to live up to the high ideals and the bar that Diane set for all of us to follow.
