Rick & Patti, We are sorry for your loss and sent you our sympathy at

at the LDR from the early 80s to the mid 90s. He learned about work ethics and lasting friendship from your family at the LDR. We will
keep you all in our prayers and thought during this difficult time.
May God bless you and give you peace.
We were so sorry to hear of Russ’ passing. He will be sorely missed. I take comfort in the fact that he’s with Mary again. You’re family is in our thoughts and prayers. There are so many great memories over the many years, I can’t help but smile. Dawn, Jerrica ,Shannon and Katie
You will be sorely missed Russ. I am honored to have known you, Mary, Ricky & Patty all my life and will cherish the memories I have of LDR – “the pit”. Thank you for being a dear friend to my father and our whole family.
I am so sorry for the Palumbo family’s loss. Russ Palumbo was a kind and generous gentleman, and it has always been a pleasure dining at the Char-Pit. It is ‘home away from home’ for me because everyone there is welcoming and friendly. My deepest sympathy to his wonderful family.
Rick,Patty and family:
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time and we will keep you all in our prayers. God Bless.
To Rick and the Palumbo family. My condolences to you. I loved Russ, gave me and many other’s my first job. Russ is with the other’s who have past on now and I’m sure he is smiling as he always did so nicely. He will be looking over us all…forever! What a true Charlotte original!!! Peace- Ron Root
We have been going to the LDR restuarant for the last 30 years and miss Russ very much. Always enjoyed seeing him and his wonderful personality. Miss Rick and Pat as well. He will always be remembered.
To the Palumbo family- I am sorry for the loss of your Dad. It is an end of an era for Charlotte. I am glad that our parents and Geary are all together again. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. The Drambuie must be flowing in Heaven! I’m sure that you know how much they are all missed.
I’m sad to hear that Russ has passed away. Russ and the Palumbo family will always bring back wonderful memories for me. I remember back in 1986 when I lost my job at Kodak, and Russ was so generous and kind to me when I would go to the Char-Pit for coffee. My sympathy to Russ’s wonderful family. It has always been a pleasure to dine at the Char-Pit.
To Rick and all of the Palumbo family – I am so sorry for your loss; he and the LDR Char Pit are part of the history of Charlotte and he’ll not be forgotten.
I worked for Russ at the Char Pit the last 2 years I was in High School. I have spent the rest of my life gauging burgers (and Shoey’s Hot Sauce)by the quality Russ upheld and delivered and have never met a match. Russ was a good man and a good man to work for. I’m sorry for your loss.
I worked at the LDR Char Pit from the mid to late 1980’s. I was just a young girl. It was my 1st job & Russ & Mary were like 2 nd parents to me. Always trying to keep me out of trouble. I learned a lot from them especially a strong work ethic. I would like to thank the family & the Char Pit for being such influential part of so many kids lives. My thoughts & prayers are with you all.
Dear Palumbo Family:
I am so saddened to hear of Russ’ passing. I was one of his employees in 1969 and 1970. My first “boss” was a good teacher and excellent human being. We’d visit each time I’d come home. And when my folks were coming to see me, you can be sure that Russ or Mary KNEW who was going to get the steak sandwich to go that they would order. He left a great legacy and will forever live in our hearts.
With deepest sympathy,
Nancy
