There was a happy smile that greeted all when they arrived at music practice. Ed had a patience
that let me cord the music in cords that knew and that let me grow in the love of play along with the “folk group”. His acceptance of fellow musician talent and time open the door for the many that joined the group. Some played for a few years other are still playing and singing twice!
From the early beginnings of the folk music at St. Marks in the 80’s with Ed, Mary Ellen, Gerry, Sheri, and myself. Others joined and it grew from five in to the teens, Fred and Bob added the base and banjoon occasion we had drums, flute, violin and other guest musicians.
Our gatherings for monthly birthday celebrations developed into annual gathering we all looked forward to with Ed’s smile to lighten the gathering.
I talked to Ed last week about a music lunch and he was ready join us there….Ed you will be missed.
The Association of Rochester Police and Area Law Enforcement Retirees (ARPALER) sends prayers and condolences to the family of Sgt. Centola and we salute him for his leadership and service to his country and community. Rest in peace Brother.
