Rich, Kathleen, and family: Our sincerest condolences on Ellen’s passiing. I remember her so well from the parties on Smith Street over the years–she was so sweet, so cute.
Business travel kept me from attending any of her services, but please know that your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
my heart goes out to the family. I remember Ellen at John Marshall, she was so full of life and when others were not so kind to under dogs, Ellen was, she had a great smile and always friendly. I remember her smile.
May her family keep her close to their hearts.

I met Ellen when we were entering the 2nd grade. When her family moved into the neighborhood we became fast friends. We were in the same classroom from 2nd grade through 7th grade.
We were inseparable. We both came from Italian American families and had so much in common. She was my best friend!
For 4 years we walked everyday together to John Marshall high school. We talked and shared everything together.
We were cheerleaders together for 4 years. We hung with the same circle of friends and we even worked together at the Aberdeen Nursing Home as aides.
We often walked to Sunday mass together and I recall one Sunday the priest literally told us to stop talking during the homily. It was embarrassing but we had so much to talk about.
After high school came college, marriages and babies. We even married firefighters and we both had 3 children.
You never forget your childhood best friend.
As time went on the phone calls became less and less but we never really forgot each other.
2 years ago Shaun and Ellen came to our high school reunion and it rekindled our friendship. Ellen planned a luncheon with some girlfriends and a dinner at a local restaurant. We would call each other every several weeks or so. It was good to reconnect. You just never forget your childhood best friend.
She told me in confidence about the cancer but she was optimistic and did not want me to divulge her diagnosis to anyone. Of course I kept it in strict confidence. I prayed for her and we told each other how much we loved each other after every phone call.
I can never forget all the memories of growing up with Ellen. She was my best friend and we were inseparable.
May you rest in peace, my friend and you will always be in my heart.
We are very sorry for your loss, we will keep you in our prayers.
