Gates: September 25, 2013 at the age 92. Frank was born 11/11/20 in Taranto, Italy to John and Emma (Narducci) Boffola. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Ralph A. Cangimila. Survived by his devoted sister and caregiver, Lena Cangimila; nieces, Cathie (Wayne) Donner, Carol (David) Childress, great nephews and nieces, Frank (Anne) D'Ambra, Steven (Courtney) D'Ambra, Jessica Childress and Eric Childress; numerous great-grand nephews and nieces and extended family; Chris (Mitsuyo) Donner, Jonathan (Melissa) Donner, Amy Donner. Frank's family is most grateful for his caregivers who were always kind and loving and allowed him to stay at home. They include his nephew Steven, grandniece Amanda, Chrissy McCaffery, Kathy Cullen, Sharon Murphy, Janet Ecchievera, Angela Hart, and Sandy Vistocco.
Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd.) Frank's Funeral Mass will be 9:30 AM Monday at St. Theodore Church, 168 Spencerport Rd, Rochester. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
At age 10, Frank emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1930 with his sister, Lena to join their father in Rochester. Frank graduated from Jefferson High School and from the University of Michigan, where he earned a BS in aeronautical engineering and went on to a career with NASA. He was most proud of his work with Wernher Von Braun on the rocket booster for the Apollo mission that landed on the moon in 1969.
Some of Frank's favorite activities included biking, tennis, swimming, cooking, and ballroom dancing. He liked Boccelli and college football. He was very proud of his family heritage, and some of his favorite sayings were "what are ya gonna do" and "golly".
Family and friends would best describe Frank as somebody who was always networking and never stopped learning. He never sat still, was generous,and always challenged others to learn. Frank had a nice voice, was detail oriented, hardworking, determined, and financially responsible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
