Greece: June 20, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Sandra J. (Kellogg) Piccolo; children, Fred Piccolo, Timothy (Stacey) Piccolo & Sandra Piccolo; grandchildren, Matthew Kelly, Joe Kelly, Amanda Piccolo, Nichole Piccolo & Deaven Noble; great-granddaughter, Carly Rose Piccolo; brother, Dante (Lenora) Piccolo; several nephews & cousins.
Ferdinando was born in his parent's home on Wilder Street in Rochester June 26, 1933. His parents owned Piccolo Laundry. He had a pony named Timmy and worked on the farm with the goats. He liked to bowl and hang out at Critics and Al's Stand. Eventually he graduated from high school and went to college at RIT. Fred also spent time in the Army, heading up the Laundry unit while in Berlin, Germany.
He met his wife Sandy through a friend and they were married in Holy Rosary Church. Fred and Sandy honeymooned in Florida. They had 3 beautiful children, Freddy, Timothy & Sandra. They were also blessed with 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He and Sandy enjoyed a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Fred was a big Buffalo Bills fan and attended car shows whenever possible. His favorite sayings were, "Work - I love to sit and watch it." And "Don't worry about it."
Fred owned and operated Welker's Grill on Dewey Ave. He also enjoyed his work in irrigation & landscaping, where he operated Four Seasons Construction. Plants and flowers were his love. He genuinely liked people and appreciated meeting new people on and off the job.
Fred's visitation will be held 3-7PM on Thursday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 & Long Pond Rd). His funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 in Fred's memory.
