Greece: September 5, 2015 at age 72 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents, Elmer Mary Grasley; brother and sister-in-law, John Kathy Grasley. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard J. Schmidt; children, Patrick (Amy) Schmidt, Heidi (Jake) Pfenninger, Tracy MacNeal, Eric (JoAnn) Schmidt; grandchildren, Abbie, Gannon Travers MacNeal, Erin, Paige Jacob Pfenninger, Joseph Grace Schmidt, Alexis Schmidt; brothers sisters, Pam (John) Wesley, Kevin (Cheryl) Grasley, George (Terry) Grasley; many other loving relatives and very dear friends. Gail was a loving wife and a mother of four. Her true joy was spending every possible moment with her nine grandchildren. Her dedication to her family defined her. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Gail's visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd) Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church (3003 Dewey Ave.) Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1200 Scottsville Rd. Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14624.
Gail met the love of her life, Richard in the third grade. She would later graduate from Mercy High School and then marry Richard at St. Charles Borromeo Church. The love of one another revealed itself with their marriage, 52 blissful years. She was a wonderful mother of four and the family spent many enjoyable trips to Saratoga Springs, Lake George and the infamous trip to South Dakota. Gail was also grandmother of nine. Her children describe Gail's involvement with her grandchildren as "hands on" and with much love. Her personality was one of a positive presence; she had a way to make everyone feel cheerful.
