Survived by his wife, Pasqua "Lena" (Abbate) Ingrassia; children, Thomas (Rhonda) Ingrassia, Victor (Maria) Ingrassia; grandchildren, Thomas Ingrassia II, Christopher Ingrassia, Adriana Ingrassia, Daniela Ingrassia; siblings, Salvatore (Crocina) Ingrassia, Domenico (Tanina) Ingrassia, Anna Bentivegna; brother-in-law, Santi (Sylvia) LiDestri; several nieces, nephews, cousins dear friends.
Joe's visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd). His funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30 Thursday at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Giuseppe was born in Sicily on February 20, 1930. He immigrated to the U.S. to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 22 and took an immediate interest in politics. Giuseppe went to work at a young age and he learned two trades, working as a tailor and as a mason. Giuseppe met his wife. Pasqua "Lena", through the friendship of their mothers and they married in St. Joseph's Church in Brooklyn, NY on January 22, 1959. They had two children, Thomas and Victor. During his adulthood, he came to Rochester, NY and worked at Stromberg Carlson. After Stromberg Carlson closed, he worked at the Rochester School for the Deaf.
Giuseppe enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas as he would set up a nativity scene in is yard each year. Some of his favorite activities were playing bocce ball, dancing, wine making, collecting wine bottles and coins. Giuseppe also liked to watch the Buffalo Bills, Juvntus Soccer Team, the Lawrence Welk show as well as Bonanza, Gun Smoke on T.V. He also enjoyed watching western movies, the Godfather movie series and listening to Italian music. Giuseppe was known to be simple, hardworking and traditional. It was important for him to provide for his family. Giuseppe always put others first in his life, he was generous and he was a likeable man who got along with everyone. Giuseppe will be dearly missed by many family and friends.
